Richmond Summer

Summer might technically still be a few weeks away, but for all intents and purposes, it's summertime in Richmond. Our real estate agents are here for it.

If you're looking for ways to bask in Richmond's glorious summer weather, then you're in luck. We've rounded up some of our favorite events, festivals, activities, and attractions in Richmond this summer.

  1. Explore the Richmond Night Market - 100 N 17th St, Richmond, VA 23219
Richmond is home to several excellent arts, crafts and farmers markets, but the Richmond Night Market is a perennial favorite. Taking place every second Saturday from 5 to 9 pm during the warmer months, the market offers a broad spectrum of vendors along with food, drink, and live entertainment. The Night Market is held on 17th Street, just minutes from many Richmond homes for sale.

  2. Discover Richmond on a Food Tour - Richmond, VA 23219
Easily one of the great food cities in the United States, Richmond offers a phenomenal range of cuisines, from global flavors to classic American comfort food. You can choose the type of food you like and the part of the city you want to explore with Discover Richmond Food Tours. Discover Richmond Food Tours offers food and drink tours in unique neighborhoods like Carytown, Church Hill, and Scott's Addition.

  3. Visit Petersburg National Battlefield - Petersburg, VA 23803
The Richmond area has no shortage of historic sites, but the Petersburg National Battlefield is of special significance. Commemorating the longest military event of the Civil War, the battlefield is maintained by the National Park Service and includes a visitors center, walking trails and interpretive sites not far from these Petersburg homes for sale.

  4. Attend the Richmond Shakespeare Festival - 4305 Sulgrave Rd, Richmond, VA 23221
The Richmond Shakespeare Festival returns to the luxurious lawn of Agecroft Hall this summer. Now in its 25th season, the festival brings the Bard's works to life in front of an enthusiastic crowd. This season's offerings include Much Ado About Nothing from now through June 23rd and Doctor Faustus from July 4th - July 21st.

  5. Take a Fishing Trip on the James River - Richmond, VA 23235
The James River flows right through the heart of Richmond, providing one of America's great urban fishing destinations. Above the Fall Line, the river is a mix of flatwater and rapids that provide exceptional habitat for smallmouth bass, which are known to reach trophy sizes here. James River Park offers numerous excellent fishing access sites within sight of Downtown Richmond.

  6. Experience the Dogwood Dell Festival of the Arts - 600 S Arthur Ashe Blvd, Richmond, VA 23220
Richmond's annual Festival of the Arts is really a series of events throughout the summer rather than a single festival. It takes place at Dogwood Della 2,400-seat amphitheater in Byrd Park. This year's schedule includes two dozen concerts, performances and theater productions that stretch from May all the way through September.

  7. Go to a Drive-In Movie - 4344 Old Fredericksburg Rd, Hadensville, VA 23067
If you think going to drive-in movies is a thing of the past, think again. The Goochland Drive-In Theater still shows movies on big outdoor screens, and it's a perfect way to spend a warm summer night. The theater is just a few minutes outside of Richmond and a stone's throw from these Goochland homes for sale. Check their online schedule for upcoming show times, which are usually announced a week in advance.
