Richmond Galleries

There's nothing like art to liven up a space! Our real estate agents know that a thriving art scene is an attractive reason to pick Richmond homes for sale or explore one of our fine neighboring communities!

It's no surprise that the Richmond area is steeped in history, and where you find history, you're sure to find art. National Go to An Art Museum Day is Monday, November 9th, and you'll have lots of places to choose from in and around Richmond.

From large city museums to eclectic private galleries, Richmond is bursting with color, culture, and life. Let's peek in on some of the area's most intriguing spaces and see what the art world has to offer:

  1. 1708 Gallery – 319 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220
Founded by artists in 1978, 1708 Gallery is a nonprofit gallery focused on innovation and appreciation of the new. Originally set in a flood-damaged warehouse at 1708 East Main Street, it has evolved over the years into a hip and happening place where established, and emerging artists can be seen side by side. New exhibits and events take place every month.
  2. Artspace – 31 East 3rd Street, Richmond, VA 23224
Artspace is a nonprofit gallery open to the public Thursday through Sunday. Artist-run since its inception in 1988, it launches eleven new exhibits each year. In addition to the professional gallery space, there's also room for poets, comedians, musicians, dancers, and dramatic troupes to perform live. Artist talks and fundraisers are also held periodically to benefit the Richmond community.
  3. Crossroads Art Center – 2016 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23230
Crossroads Art Center is open Monday through Sunday and by appointment, giving you multiple ways to savor its exclusive collection. Hosting a busy calendar of events, Crossroads is known for juried art shows, lively receptions, and a remarkable selection of pre-owned pieces ready for a second act in your home. Looking for a gift? Drop by the Design Store and see exquisite handicrafts by local artisans.
  4. Virginia Museum of Fine Art – 200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
Virginia Museum of Fine Art is one of the premier museums in the region, welcoming visitors with free admission every day of the year. It is also one of America's leading institutions in digitization of its artistic treasures for online viewing. Its permanent collection encompasses 50,000 works spanning 6,000 years of human history. It's especially acclaimed for its ancient, African, and East Asian collections.
  5. Side Street Gallery & Gifts – 127-129 Pickwick Avenue, Colonial Heights, VA 23834
Open Tuesday through Saturday not far from Colonial Heights homes for sale, go to Side Street Gallery & Gifts for a chic and trendy gallery experience with some of the best jewelry around.
